This is my new wall scroll!! Arthur C. Clarke be proud...
Yep. It's here, the year 2001. We're still breathing. Nothing blew up. No commets smashed into the Earth and wiped out mankind. Nothing, nadda, zip, zero. What does this mean? It means that the Shrine of Akira is here to stay! That's right, not even floods, death, or disaster will keep us from being irratating and gathering together in hopes of being the stupidest cult mankind has ever known!

What's new in the Shrine? Hmmm... where you here last month? Yep, that's right. Nothing is new. No recipies, no stories, no Josta. It's so dull running a web page to relieve boredom when no one ever wants to help. Come on people, I know your there, I can hear you breathing. Besides, Lain is always watching you. She will always be waiting for the coming of Akira. She knows that his time is near. When General Tetsuo arrives looking for his armies, he won't pick from a bunch of non-activists like you. Show him your devotion. Submit.

For those of you who are members of the Shrine for it's original non-anime beliefs, please disreguard the previous statement.

Our goal is failed. 100 by 2001 was just too much for you guys I guess. I mean, it's just so hard to sign up a whole 16 people isn't it? This makes me sick...

  • Anime Review: AKIRA
Ok, you know I was going to review this one sooner or later. I figured it was the best one for the new year. Anyways, if you don't all ready know, Akira is being re-released on DVD this month. The anime shows off some spectacular effects and has an outstanding soundtrack. This is one all anime fans need to see. The basic plot for anyone unsure of it, is that a boy named Tetsuo becomes involved in a top secret government project to create a person so powerful that they seem to be a God. Tetsuo becomes mad with his new powers and begins to reck havic upon the city of Neo-Tokyo. Attempting to stop him is his childhood friend Kaneda who must come to grips with the strange group of people surrounding the project. The plot is very complex with so many twists and turns that you may need to go find the Akira FAQ just to understand half of it. However, the eye popping visuals make this a movie that must be seen to be believed. Personaly I think the only thing that could help this movie become more of a masterpiece would be to show it in an IMAX theatre with full surround sound...
