HERE WE GO AGAINWell the Shrine's "main office" has been moved yet again. The last few updates never got to be published thanks to everything that happened so I have to combine two news letters now... For starters, Freeservers has not only reduced the amount of available space from 25MBs to 12MBs, but they have also removed all free FTP access. So, unless I want to pay them $10 a month for what I used to have for free, or I'm moving again... After an exhastive search, it seems that all the "free web hosting" guides voted Freeservers the best. So, I figured until I find something better, the Shrine of Akira was to be located in it's last location: Fortune City.com However, Fortune City is moving to a new computer system that month. That means that there is no telling when it's going to be back on-line. So now what?...  Yup, that's right, we got some money together and rebuilt the Shrine of Akira. Now here we are at our new address with even more ways to kill time! Go nuts in the font bin. Download the Shirne's cursor set! Buy yourself a T-Shirt!! The Shrine of Akira is growing fast and you all got to see it grow from the ground up. Let's not stop now, first the web, then the world!!! MWA-HAH-HAH-HAH!!!! |

Anime Review: Akira: 2001 Special Edition DVD ( * * * * ½ ) Our co-fonder may not care for this, but I was very impressed with the new translation. The voice actors actualy sound like their Japanese counter parts and the script is even close to the direct translation. The best part is, other than the surround sound, is that the movie actualy makes sence the first time you watch it now! Just in case though, the second disk features the "Akira Glossary" wich goes on to explain stuff that even the legendary Akira FAQ didn't cover. Finish it off with some realy nice packaging and a massive still art/story board gallery and this movie is more than worth the $50 price tag. The worst thing about the new version is that the lines, "Men, we're going to the olympics," and the Random Riot Officer's, "Scum Bag!" Have been removed...

Dead Men Don't DieOk, I'm sorry but I'm a big horror movie fan and I've been trying to keep up with this for what seems like years now, but when I went and bought last halloween's Boogymen DVD (Used for $10) and finaly watched all the commentary, I had to do a search on this again. Robert Englund announced in his commentary that Freddy Versus Jason was still in the works. Apparently the argument over who would hold the rights to the picture has been settled seeing as how New Line Cinema now owns the rights to the Firday the 13th series. However, what I did not expect to find was that the oldest horror rumor since Alien vs Predator, has a release date. That's right, a script is being put together with an estimated release in April of 2003!!!! Since I don't have the contacts to keep you updated on the progress, I'm putting up a link to Countingdown.com - Freddy vs Jason for all of you on the links page. Now the big question is: who's going to win? Also scheduled for 2003; Goonies II, Matrix: Reloaded, Rush Hour 3, Tron 2.0, and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. | ||
