Late afternoon, and Rose is once again at the arcade... She will get her round at that racing game today! But of course, even though the arcade is mostly empty... There's still of course a line at the one machine she was wanting to use. She lets out a heavy sigh and walks on to that machine again, getting into the line... again.

Beast Boy wanders in, "Dude...look at that line; gah...I'm never getting through to the racing game..." he sweatdrops, "Maybe A gorilla will thin the heard?" He laughs at the thought, but Raven would have his head. he moves up to the back of the line, "Hopefully everybody in this line totally sucks at this game.

Rose does a double take at the green guy that just walked in as she looks back around behind her again... but then she shrugs. Sure, she's been here less than a week, but this is far from the weirdest looking person she's seen. Well, except maybe the form fitting purple outfit. That's still pretty weird, but who is she to judge. "Sorry," she taunts with a smirk. "You've got me in front of you. Then again... I'm just a good driver in general. I've not actually played this game yet." So says the 13 year old...

It's a really nice racing game, too, it's like a simulator! There are pods for the players to enter which moves and shakes to simulate gravity and everything!

Beast Boy says, "Gamer, huh? Cool! I'm totally into racing games...usually play against my friend Vic...who's actually part machine, so it's really unfair, but hey, I like a challenge!" he grins, "But I haven't played this one yet! So, totally worth the wait! Oh, uh, I'm Gar! Hi! Don't mind my green, just means I'm not ripe yet!" he laughs."

Rose just shrugs as Gar mentions the green. "Eh. I've run into pastel pegasi. At this point, someone who's green with pointy ears really isn't that wierd anymore." She then frowns. "...And I've not even been here a week."

Beast Boy says, "Wel, welcome to town," he grins, "Yeah, this place is pretty crazy, right? Even I'm not even weird here! Well, maybe just a little! I've heard of the ponies, I haven't met them though, but I hear they're really nice...uh...sorry, didn't get your name?"

Rose blinks, then closes her eyes and shakes her head with a mildly annoyed sounding sigh. At least she's annoyed with herself this time. "Sorry, sorry. Hitakino Rose," she says. "You heard right, the two I met were pretty nice. One had pretty good reason to be distracted the first time I ran into her, though." She looks back at the racing game as the pods open, letting the curent batch of players out and the next group of players in. Not enough for these two to get in, but at least this time Rose notices and steps forward instead of being distracted to the point that someone just skips her in line. "Know anyone in this city willing to hire a 13 year old? Having an 'allowance' for being an unaccompanied minor in this place is starting to really grate on me."

Beast Boy says, "Rose, huh? Cool name, I like it," he steps forward as well, rocking on his heels as he waits. "My friends have met them, but I haven't," he pouts just a little, then adds. "I dunno...maybe try getting a job at Usual? I think they're always looking for help...and this place isn't as Age-centric as a lot of places. If nothing else, It'll get you something to get by on, untill you find something better."

Beast Boy says, "There's a lot of places at the mall, too...."

Beast Boy says, "Heck maybe you could get a job here?"

Beast Boy says, "That would be an awesome job!"

Rose smiles slightly and says, "Thanks," at the compliment to her name, but blanches slightly at the idea of working at the Usual Restaurant, or even the mall. "Urg... Waitressing and retail... I... ugh. No. No no no no." She shakes her head emphatically at that. She lets out another annoyed sigh. "Here... I could maybe concider. I need to save up enough for a computer so I can have the resources to go back into programming... I'm really more of a code monkey," she explains. "But... can't do that without a computer... and my assumption was they'd not hire me on as a thirteen year old, so I figured I'd need to telecommute." She glances off to the counter where staff here works, apparently now considering this. "...It's... something I'd consider... I'd have to stake the place out to see what they really do here, though."

Beast Boy laughs a little, "Hey, if you're into code, I'm sure you could totally get a prigramming job here; like I said, age really isn't an issue around here, and if a talking pegasus can get a job, I'm sure you an get a job too. Maybe even at Titan's tower, we'd have to check with Raven and Robin, but with vic not being here, maybe you could elp out our team, I..." he notices a big teenager shoving his way into the line up front. "One sec..." he strides up to the bigger kid, who just laughs at Gar when he tries to get him to the back of the line. When the kid again refuses and pushes Gar back, he stands up, brushes his sleeve off, adjusts his uniform and TURNS INTO A GREEN GORILLA AND ROARS at the punk. Who promply wets himself and runs away! He snaps back into normal form and waves to the crowd, "Continue on, nothing to see here!" He waks back to his spot at the back of line, "Guys like that really tick me off."

Rose looks upward slightly. This isn't charity she's being offered here, unlike when two random strangers offered a place for her to stay. Two strangers that, as far as she's aware, didn't even know each other. One day after the next. No, this is a legitimate job offer, or at least interview offer. She knows she can pull her weight in that... assuming she can learn whatever programming languages there are here. "Well, what kind of programming work do you nee-" she pauses as Gar excuses himself to deal with the line cutter and... deals with this in a manner much less subtle than Miku did the other night. And Miku was NOT subtle, either. As Gar returns to his place behind her, she just looks at him with a doteyed look.

Beast Boy says, "Just something I do," he shrugs, then replies, "Well, security and coding and stuff, there's a ton of hardware in our Tower and our Tech guy is MIA, so, sounds like you'd be good fit with us. My knowledge of computers is basically, turn it on, turn it off."

Rose nods, considering the offer. "I might not know the OS or programming languages just yet... new arrival in this... world and all, but I promise to learn as much as I can in short notice..." She then smirks. "And thankfully I managed to get them to let me try to test out of school, and of course I passed, so I'm not going to have to worry about that." She glances back at the line of machines again. "...I think they're expecting me to go to college... I'd rather get a job straight away, though, honestly. A real one, not... waitressing or retail." Another batch of racers step out of the machines, looking tired but excited about the race they just had. Half of them(two) move back to the end of the line, but the other two move off to the Parfait Parlour above.

Beast Boy says, "Yeah...I get that, it's good to have a job, though, making you're own way's a way to go. Anyway, you seem really smart, I'm sure you'll do good either way." He moves closer to the game, closer...ever closer. "I think most coding is the same any universe you come from, but hey, what do I know? I do a great Magilla Gorilla impersonation; but a coder? Forget it!"

Rose tilts her head, then nods. "I hope so. The thing about programming, though, is that there's different languages. It's not as bad as actual languages, since a lot of the basic ideas still kinda carry over between them, but there's still a learning curve. Still, no way I'm going to attempt to do that level of crap on my phone. I need a real keyboard and mouse, maybe a VR set depending on the language tools, to really get into code." VR headset? She must be from a futuristic world, herself! "Uh, yeah. Good Gorilla impersonation. I do an okay hawk, myself," she says a bit dryly.

Beast Boy Hmms? "I'd to see that sometime," he smiles, "There's also the space fleet people, if you're really knowing about high-tech stuff, there's that way to go; you have lots of opportunites here," he thumbs up, looking at his hand, 'Whoa...it's opposable!" he jokes.

Rose blinks, then glances to the side. "It was a joke, nevermind. As far as the fleet is concerned... I'm still pretty civilian level, I'd say. I've not really gone for military applications in the past, but..." She shrugs. "I'd rather get my feet on the ground first, you know? I don't need high tech... I just need... something."

Beast Boy says, "WEll, come on by the Tower, meet the gang and maybe we can get your feet on the ground, can't hurt to try, right?" He grins, moving forward again. "I tried to get a job at the Zoo, but they turned me down...said I needed more experience, you know, too green," he grins, then laughs."

Rose offers a smile back. "Thanks... for the opportunity. I hate charity, but I'm more than willing to, you know, work for getting help, you know? This'll be what I was looking for, I guess!" She smirks, then rolls her eyes before facepalming at the horrible, horrible pun. "Oh, gods..."

Beast Boy hehehehs and grins. 'I know how you feel, I was on my own for a while and yeah, I like to do things on my own; my adopted parents were richer then God, but, I still wanted to just prove I could make it on my own. Of course, it's not easy being green, had some challenges, but I think I did good. I'm sur you will, too.

Rose nods, glancing to the side. "Yeah, I've had my own issues. I hate taking charity from people I don't or barely know... Hopefully I can actually start paying my own share of rent soon..." She then looks back. "But yeah, it is nice to not have to worry about money too much when growing up, isn't it?"

Beast Boy says, "Yeah, that's true," he nods. "Oh!" He reaches into a pocket, then hands her a card. On it is a cartoon version of himself. it reads "Beast Boy" with the number and adress of the Tower, "here's my card, drop by when you get a chance. I'll let Raven and the others know you're coming by."

Rose takes the card in an oddly careful manner, then looks at it a second before raising an eyebrow. "'Beast Boy'?" she asks a slight dubiously. "Okay... What's with the psuedonym?"

Beast Boy says, "That's my Super-hero name, Beast Boy; I can change into any animal at all, Dinosaur, Otter, bird...you name it. So..Beast Boy kind of sums me up, but my friends call me Gar."

Rose nods a bit slowly. "Super... Hero..." She then sighs and hangs her head. "Yeah, I shouldn't be surprised by that. This city is... weird. This universe is weird." She looks up again, now slightly unsure of herself again. "So I'm supposed to be working on the computer systems for a group of superheroes then, I'm guessing? Well... it'll be a challange, at least... I hope I'm up to keeping your security systems above par..."

Beast Boy says, "Yeah, this place is weird, but what can ya do, right? And don't look at it like a super-hero team, we're the Teen Titans, it's almsot more like a clubhouse, and we're just regular folk under all the tights and capes," he smiles, "And...you like challenges, am I right?"

Rose shrugs lightly. "I don't mind a challenge," she clarifies. "I mostly like to just be pulling my weight, honestly." The next batch of racers step out, and the next walk on in, leaving Rose and Gar as the next two in line. One of the previous racers waves to the others before heading out with a yawn, while the other three move on up to the parlor, also looking a little worn out.

Beast Boy says, "So...wanna race each other? I wouldn't want to beat you too easily," he jokes, "So, if you'd rather not?" He eggs her on, playfully."

Rose shakes her head with a smirk. "I'm good for a challange. I'm assuming you're not talking about racing you, though." Oh, there's some definite trash talking going on there. "But... I think we don't really have a choice? It looks set up for four people to race each other here."

Beast Boy says, "Oh, you are SO one," he grins, moving towards a pod!"

Rose smirks. "Easy there, Gar. Let them finish their race first," she says as she crosses her arms. "Looks like it's a tiring game, though. Must be pretty good beyond the realism, yeah?"

Beast Boy hmm. grueling, huh? We'll see...I'd show you that I'm strong as a horse, but, it might be too crowded in here.

Rose raises an eyebrow. "I don't think you can fit in the racing pod as a horse," she says dryly. "Or as a lion, or a tiger, or a bear... And I somehow doubt it'll let you race as a cheetah. It's pretty car centric, you know."

Beast Boy snrks, "I'll still need my thumbs and all, so, guess I'll just have to beat you as good ol' me.

Rose waves a hand dismissively as she looks away. "Riiight, right. Good luck with that." The next round is over, and the tired-looking racers head out, dispersing among the crowd mostly, though one does get back into the end of the line. Rose smirks and maker her way into one of the pods.

Beast Boy climbs into the pod...a joke forming in his mind...but that'll be for later! He thumbs up as he climbs in, shutting the pod and slipping in his pay-card. "Atomic batteries to turbo, torbo to speed!"

Rounding corners, drifting, hitting the gas on the straightaways... the quartette race on! The pods bounce as collisions happen, including when one of the other racers flat out knocks Rose off the road in the game, setting her back horribly... but that's racing! Or at least video game racing. It doesn't take particularly long, it doesn't seem like it should be that exhausting, but as the race ends with Gar at the front, every just feels slightly exausted.

Beast Boy's compartment pod begins to shudder from within...inside a voice can be heard going "Ahhh! Aggh! Nooo!!" he then stumbles out of the pod as a chimp! 'NooOooo! What's it done to me?! I've been devolved....augh!" He faints, tounge lolling out for effect! He would've become a fly, which would've been funnier, but who could see his performance?

Rose steps out as well, a tired look in her eyes as she looks over the prone chimp of a Gar. "...Really?"

Beast Boy says, "Bananas...only bananas..can save me now.....Gah....."

Rose looks down at Gar for another moment before finally smirking. "All right. Upstairs. But you're still buying, I don't have the cash to spare."

Beast Boy hops to his feet and pops back to normal, "Fair enough...though usually it's loser buys," he grins, "But I'll let it go this time.

Rose deadpans, "I can owe you one. But if the loser buys right now, we'd have to go to some discount grocery store or something." No, she's not happy about that. "But assuming I pass muster at the job you're offering, I should be able to pay you back soon enough, right?"

Beast Boy says, "Don't worry about it," he grins, "I don't get to buy a girl a milkshake nearly often enough, and never after I turn into an ape," he laughs, "But if ya like, you can buy a round next time."

Rose nods as she starts making her way upstairs as well, holding a hand over her mouth as she yawns. "Yup. Next time I'm buying, sure. And I think I won't say no to a pity milkshake today," she says with a bit of monotone to her voice. She's not turning into Raven now, is she?!

Rose pauses a moment after they make their way upstairs. "So uh..." she asks unsurely, "...What... exactly are you?" Realizing this could be offensive sounding, she quickly ammends herself with, "I mean, how do you do what you do and whatnot? The... animal shape thing?"

Beast Boy sets down at the counter and orders a vanilla shake, "And what ever she wants.." He looks to Rose, "Umm...I was dying, got a bad transfusion with a new treatment, and it kinda messed with me, on a celllular level. Freaky, yeah, I know.

Rose orders a mint cookies and creme shake(also known as mint oreo). "Thanks... and... wow, that sounds... weird..." She pauses a moment before saying, "Wait, I thought you wanted a banana? And you ordered a vanilla shake?" She laughs once, then asks, "So... you think the transfusion, what, came from someone else with the same power, or.... what?"

Beast Boy says, "I was just kidding about the banannas thing, naw, thought I'd go vanilla this time," he smiles. 'I got sick with something only animals can survive, so my father came up with a serum that infused me with animal genes or Dna or some kinda weird science thing, it really shouldn't have worked, it just sounds nuts when I talk about it; but there it is, and here I am."

Rose smirks at the mention of kidding about bananas, then nods slowly, glancing down at her milkshake. "...your father? Huh. Your adopted father, right? It does sound really... odd that doing that would give you the ability to shapeshift like that, though. I honestly figured it was just something you were born with or something."

Beast Boy says, "I could have this thing called the Meta-gene, it gets triggerd by strange things, so, you're probably right. And no, my real parents died not soon after, and I was taken in by my adopted parents...who aren't what I'd call typical."

Rose actually perks up slightly at that mention. "So... maybe your father knew about that... meta-gene since he might have had it... that's why he knew it would work on you?"

Beast Boy says, "I think....it did work on me, but just not quite as he wanted. It was just supposed to hal me, not make me a walking zoo," he smiles, 'but it's okay, I like what I can do."

Rose nods, taking another long slurp of her milkshake, letting a silence hang for a moment before she says, "...The hawk thing I said? It comes down my family. My mother and her father could both do it, too..."

Beast Boy says, "So you really can turn into a Hawk? I thought you said you were joking?"

Rose glances away, puffing her cheeks out slightly before she says, "Yeah, well... I don't talk about it much. Powers are pretty rare in my world... I don't like standing out."

Beast Boy says, "If you can turn into a hawk...we should, uh...go flying together..sometime....."

Rose blinks and looks back for a moment before raising an eyebrow. "Are you... asking me out?" she asks. It sounds like even she's not sure what to think of that. She looks back down at her shake again before adding, "I can't talk when I look that that, though. Hawks aren't exactly as verbose as parrots are."

Beast Boy merfs..."Uh...ah..well..kinda maybe..uh..I just never met anyone else who could turn into a bird...so..I..uh.." he sucks down more shake, "Well..kinda..."

Rose takes a few more seconds of thought, considering the complications, the annoyance, the possible heartbreak(either way, she barely knows the guy,) and of course that one major hurdle that will come out at the end of this pose... "Well... All right, then," she finally says with a light smile and a quiet voice. "I guess I'll give it a shot, as long as you, uhhh... understand that I kind of have a... thing with physical contact. I... don't like it, generally," she says as she looks away again, blushing from embarrassment at that.

Beast Boy says, "That's okay...I've been down that road before...anyway, let's just call it a friendly thing anyway, right? No worries, no pressure. It'd just be nice to fly with someone else after all."

Rose nods a few times. "It'll just be... annoying is all. I can't talk unless I'm looking human."

Beast Boy says, "No worries, I won't talk either," he smiles.
