Gonfei is behind the bar, as he can often be found. It's fairly slow right now, and the few patrons at the bar currently are talking to each other, leaving Gonfei to glance about the place, looking slightly bored, actually.

And into the bar walks in the rarely boring but always awesome half-elf from Seattle! She hums a little tune to herself as she makes her way to the bar, and wouldn't you know? Her favorite stool is open!

Gonfei nods to Ari as she sits, smiling lightly. "Evening, Miss Ari. What can I get for you today?"

Ari thinks about that for a moment. "That's a good question, and the answer has something to do with chocolate coated gummi bears..."

Gonfei raises an eyebrow. "Chocolate coated gummi bears... well, it certainly can be done. Was there anything else to this? I'll assume some form of liqueur."

Ari shakes her head. "Nah, I'm in more of a mango smoothie mood... hey, are you implying something?" she raises an eyebrow at him

Gonfei laughs. "I'm implying that you typically order something more alcoholic. Clearly, I don't read you as well as I thought I did. One mango smoothie coming up. I'll send the request for chocolate coated gummi bears to the kitchen."

Ari chuckles. "I appreciate it." She smiles, stretching out a little.

Gonfei gets to work on the smoothie, finishing it up quickly enough. As he places the straw in, a small bowl of chocolate covered gummi bears comes in from the kitchen. Both items are brought to the bar to be placed in front of Ari. "Here you are. Enjoy!" he says with a smile.

Ari smiles. "Thanks! It just sounds good for some reason." she chuckles, popping a gummi bear into her mouth. "So! How're you?"

Gonfei shrugs. "I'm doing well. My life isn't exactly the most exciting it's ever been. Bartending is going well, but in general most people see me as being a background in their lives. I don't necessarily mind, but it doesn't make for much to tell."

Ari grins. "Yes, but you have to be getting some good gossip, right?" she takes a sip of the smoothie. "Oh, perfect!"

Gonfei smiles and shakes his head. "A bartender never tells, Miss Ari. Though I can tell you most gossip I overhear tends to be about 'so and so cheating on so and so.' Not that interesting unless you knew the people, which... well, even if I thought you did... Bartender's code, afterall."

Ari wrinkles her nose a bit. "Well as long as so and so isn't someone I'm with, I don't care about that." she grins. "And you can drop the Miss. Just Ari is fine."

Gonfei shakes his head with a light laugh. "No, no, I will go ahead and say that I've not heard anything about your man or woman being with anyone but your woman or man. And that's all been from you, I might add." He nods as well. "All right, just Ari it is."

Ari laughs. "Okay, good. Now if you happen to hear anyone who is cute and single and loves kids, let me know. Not for me, mind you." she eats another gummi bear, and yeah, she's happy.

Gonfei raises an eyebrow. "I'll have to warn you, I've never really attempted to play match maker. In fact, I don't think I'm particularly good at finding matches for myself."

Ari nods a bit. "Well, I haven't either. I mean, matches for other people. I get dates just fine. Well, you know, when I was single I did with no problem. I should shut up about that now." she blushes a little. "But it's for my sister. She's only really been with one guy. THAT guy I told you about. I'm hoping if I get her out and about it'll help her recovery."

Gonfei frowns, but shrugs, looking out over the denizens of the restaurant. "Well... I'll keep an eye out, I suppose." He glances at Ari and says dryly, "I'm going to take a stab out there and guess she's probably had her fill of phoenixes already."

Ari shrugs. "Every race has their issues. Being with one bad human isn't going to stop someone from seeing another human, is it?"

Gonfei nods, pauses for a moment, then shrugs again. "Well, I've not had a date in a few years. Frankly, I'm the only single guy I really know right now."

Ari nods and pops another gummi bear in her mouth, thinking.

Gonfei frowns slightly, then sighs. "Sorry, like I said, that kind of help isn't one I'm good at. Previous pubs I'd run I would point people to some women in town that were obsessed with matchmaking, let them deal with it. I guess the equivalent of that now would be to say... she should try a dating website?"

Ari shakes her head. "We're more meet in person kind of people." she sighs. "Ah well, I'll figure it out. In other news my club should be up and running soon.

Gonfei puts a hand in his other palm. "Well, that might be a good place for her to meet people, then! Really, female co-workers I've had in taverns and pubs tend to attract a lot of attention... doesn't work for the guys, for some reason. But I'm guessing that's not her style, so I'd say more she should just hang around there, maybe?"

Ari laughs a little. "Is that your way of saying she's not welcome anymore?" she shakes her head. "I'm teasing. Part of the reason she isn't here is because of well, you know. She's afraid to leave the house. But she likes the club scene, so maybe."

Gonfei shakes his head. "Not at all! We're just not a club. We're a restaurant, which, even with the bar here, isn't what I, as a guy, would think of as a place to meet prospective dates. Club? That's more of a pickup location, if you know what I mean?" He then frowns at the afraid to leave the house part. "She's... been through a lot, I'm guessing. I don't know about possession... but I've seen a lot of people lose it after battle. I imagine it's as bad or worse... especially if she knew what was going on."

Ari sighs again. "Yeah, she does. She saw everything. It's been hell for her for so long, and I just... I want her happy, you know?"

Gonfei sighs and leans on the bar, staring out into space. "I... I guess so. I always wanted my daughters to be happy. They've not been through nearly as much hell, I suppose, but still."

Ari nods. "Yeah, it sucks seeing family need help, right? Though granted there are other matters like she hasn't eaten or anything in days." she headdesks the bar.

Gonfei frowns at that one. "If she's that bad, then she needs more professional help. Get a doctor, a healer, a psychologist, whatever she needs. If she's not eating, you need to take that out of her control."

Ari wrinkles her nose. "Yeah, me and taking things out of her control is not a good thing. Those that forget history are doomed to repeat it, right?"

Gonfei sighs and facepalms. "Right, right. You need to get someone she trusts implicitly to do it, then. Have... well, depending on how well her kids are developed, have them stage and intervention. This is... a pretty damn serious situation now."

Ari nods solemnly. "Yeah, I know. But right now I don't know who she trusts, or who trusts her. Between what's been done to her and what the.. possessor did.. I think it's hard getting her near anyone."

Gonfei groans slightly, rolling his eyes. "That's why I suggested her kids... damnit. I don't know. Does she... say why she doesn't eat?"

Ari says, "I um.. never asked. She isn't exactly talking to me much. I'm getting all my info from the kids." she frowns."

Gonfei says, "Well, damn. Uhhhh.... if it's been that long, I assume she's drinking something... so maybe try liquids? See if she'll drink smoothies and what?"

Ari hmms. "It's a thought. I don't know if she is but it's worth a try.

Gonfei shakes his head. "If she's not drinking, she's not gonna make it more than a day or two without passing out. Though if it gets that bad, definitely get her to a hospital, get an IV in her to bring her back to health..."

Ari nibbles her lip a bit. "I may do that anyway. She has a habit of not listening to reason.

Gonfei nods. "This time... you'd be right in doing it. She might be pissed at first, but when she's better, she'll thank you. They may get her the psychological help there, too."

Ari sighs. "Yeah, she hates doctors. This is gonna be fun."

Gonfei reaches over to put a hand on Ari's shoulder. "It'll be for the best, Ari. She needs help, even if she doesn't see it that way."

Ari nods. "You're right, I know you're right. Ugh, I hate being the sane one.

Gonfei raises an eyebrow. "Well, you can be insane later. Right now you need to keep at keeping your sister breathing. If this is a... conscious thing, remind her that she needs to stay strong for the kids, set the right example to them."

Ari eats another gummi bear, chewing slowly. "You're right. Besides, I kind of owe it to her. Since I started this whole nightmare."

Gonfei nods. He wasn't going to say it, but Ari brought it up, so he'll silently agree. "You just have to... find the right motivation. You know her better than I do to find that, though."

Ari nibbles her lip. "Honestly, the best idea for this would be to get a bunch of stuff from the hospital, go to her place, knock her out, and hook her up to IVs myself.

Gonfei frowns. "That... might be too close. I'd have to suggest a neutral party doctor... But if you really think so, I'll defer to you."

Ari hmms. "I don't know any doctors, though. Damn. Wish my parents were here, they'd know what to do."

Gonfei nods silently. It takes him a while, but he eventually says, "We all wish that, from time to time."

Ari nods. "Yeah, sorry. I know that's a sore spot for a lot of people.

Gonfei shakes his head. "Don't worry about it. It's been a long time. Millenia, even. Just... sometimes, every once in a while, I remember them. But at any rate, one of the good things about doctors is you don't need to know them."

Ari shakes her head. "Hospitals are nothing but another type of corporation, and medics and docs are no better than suits." she frowns. "It's something I gotta do myself."

Gonfei raises an eyebrow. "You have a medical degree? Because you didn't correct me to tell me to say 'Doctor' when I called you Miss Ari. This isn't something you can play at, Ari."

Ari says, "My dad was a healer. Taught me a few things. But actual doctors? Don't trust 'em. At all." she frowns. "They're only interest is the corporations they work for."

Gonfei sighs and puts his elbows on the bar top, putting his face in his hands. "You have had some really bad experiences. Half of the doctors out there... got into the field because of money, and most of them regret it because of the costs of the education. The other half want to help people. Maybe a lot of them are jaded, tired, but they're more interested in helping people than towing a company line."

Ari shakes her head. "Not where I come from. You need healing, you go to a healer who's also a runner. You don't trust docs. They only work for suits." She thinks a moment. "Now I just need the blueprints to the local hospital."

Gonfei sighs as he looks up from his hands. "You're not where you're from, I should remind you. Almost no one is, here." He pauses a moment, considering. "I recall a place in the Nerima district... A small, local run place. They're a bit more... homeopathic, but they're not any corporation. They may have connections you want, to other smaller places that you can trust. Dr... Tofu's, that's it. Odd name, but it's why I remember it."

Ari seems to consider it a moment. "I don't know. It takes a lot to earn my trust like that.

Gonfei sighs and leans down to look Ari straight in the eyes. "ARI," he says more forcefully this time, his eyes even seeming to spark with fire. "If you screw up, you will KILL your sister."

Belldandy comes wafting in with a casual smile. "Greetings, everyone," she says, looking about the place casually.

Ari scowls. "And who's to say some doc won't? Or won't experiment on her? Or hand her over to someone to turn her back into a merciless killing machine like the last time?"

Gonfei stands up from where he is behind the bar and offers a friendly wave to Belldandy. "Hello, ma'am." He then glances back down at Ari again. "Because, I would need to remind you, we aren't in your world. We're in NeoTokyo now. Your sister has strange powers? So does ten percent of the entire population here."

Belldandy tilts her head a little, she can't help but over-hear, but, she decides it must be a private conversation. She scoots a bit further away as to no intrude. She takes up residence near a window and sits down.

Ari almost growls. "It doesn't matter what world it is. You can't trust anyone except family. And even then you still need to be on your guard."

Gonfei raises an eyebrow. "Then why are you listening to me at all?"

Belldandy watches the people moving too and fro outside. She notices a sad looking guy walking along. There's a girl he seems to like, but...he's obviously shy. She waves her fingers subtly, and her handkerchief flies out of her purse and sails over towards him. Things begin.

Ari says, "Because you haven't done anything to make me not listen to you."

Gonfei sighs and leans forward onto the bartop to look Ari in the eyes again. "Then listen to me on this. If you screw up, you will kill your sister. If you go steal equipment from a hospital, you may kill a completely innocent bystander who needed that equipment to live. If I hear of anything along those lines, I will know who stole the equipment. Do you want me to continue this line of consequences?"

Ari scowls again. "One, I won't screw up. Two, like they'll even know anything's missing. Three, do you honestly think I haven't killed for my sister before? I'm a former assassin. I can always disappear again. I'm pretty damned good at it by now."

Ari adds. "Now don't you have other people to wait on?"

Belldandy glances over at the two from the window...she doesn't say anything, but her eyes speak volumes.

Gonfei sighs and shakes his head, standing up. The look on his face is clearly one of disappointment. "Well then. Don't go getting a bounty on hour head, in that case. And if you're not going to listen to reason, don't ask for advice." He walks on down the bar.

Belldandy says, "Pardon me, may I trouble you for some rose tea?" she inquires of Gonfei."

Ari stands up, almost shouting at him. "For the record, I didn't ask!" she throws a few bills down on the bar and turns on her heel, heading towards the door.

Gonfei manages to bring up an almost convincing smile to Belldandy. "Of course, ma'am. I'll have it ready right away."

Belldandy says, "Miss..." to Ari, "Please forgive my intrusion...but...hiding is no way to live...."

Ari looks to Belldandy as she heads towards the door. "I'm used to hiding. Been doing it all my life. Maybe coming out of hiding is what screwed me over. Thanks though."

Belldandy puts her hands together, "Then...may the guidance of Yggdrsil guide your heart and thoughts...that you may make the right decisions."

Gonfei returns with Belldandy's tea, setting it down silently in front of her. He's not getting back into the conversation. Perhaps he's hoping Belldandy can talk sense into Ari, perhaps he's just sick of the conversation line entirely.

Belldandy says, "Thank you very much, sir," she nods politely.

Ari blinks, confused, then shakes her head. "Sure, thanks, I think..." she says before heading out the door.

Belldandy says, "Feelings of darkness, of anger, they can't be of use to you..or anyone...even your sister. Anger is like poison. If you want to help your sister...you must do so from the kind heart you possess."

Gonfei watches Ari head out the door, then sighs and shakes his head. "Problem is... she's still stuck in her old world. She won't accept that things are different here, even if it's for the better. She doesn't trust anyone, apparently."

Belldandy sips her tea. "She is sad and hurting. It's herself she really does not trust.

The door opens and in walks, on her hind legs, a little blue dragon. Nova starts walking over to the bar, doing her best not to get stepped on.

Gonfei sighs and shakes his head. "Maybe not, but she's putting all her chips on herself anyway. She seems overconfident. Enough so to do something stupid... I really am afraid she'll try to do all this stuff alone, when her sister needs more than just her help. She needs someone she actually does trust to talk her out of this. Hopefully her boyfriend or girlfriend will talk some sense into here... I'm afraid they may be the only ones she'll really listen to." He glances over at Nova and does a double take. He watches the little dragon walk over with a raised eyebrow. Considering her relationship to Ari, he's not sure what to expect from Nova right now.

Belldandy smiles to Nova as the dragon enters. 'Hello there.' she smiles gently, then looks back to Gonfei. "It's not unusual to be one's own worst enemy. In fact, it's quiet common. She has a kind, generous heart beneath her anger and rage; the heart speaks...but it's not always heard.

Nova struggles a little as she climbs up onto a bar stool, and it spins her around a few times. On one of the rotations she says a cheery hello to Belldandy, and then on the next rotation a similar hello to Gonfei.

Gonfei nods to Belldandy. "And unfortunately for her... and possibly her sister, and possibly some innocent people in a hospital... she's not listening to anyone or anything right now..." At the amicable greeting to him, he seems to relax slightly about Nova being here. "I'm going to guess you missed Ari on her way out, Nova?"

Belldandy says, "She must find her own path...I pary she chooses the right one." she sips her tea, closing her eyes as she thinks."

Nova finally steadies herself on the bar stool and puts her hands on the bar. "Bosslady was here? Yeah, I didn't see her."

Gonfei nods a bit grimly. "I'm kinda afraid she's about to go do something stupid..." He glances over to Belldandy, then back to Nova. "Do you think you can push her back onto the right path? Or is she hopelessly stubborn?"

Belldandy says, "Regretfully, I cannot interfere. I have sent my prayers to Yggdrasil, if the system chooses, I could, or if she commits an action...but beyond speaking to her, and trying to reach her clouded heart, it is her own choice."

Nova thinks about that a moment. "Well, she is a von Tilsen. The whole family is stubborn, unless the right person talks to them." She taps her claws on the bar. "Let's see..In Bosslady's case it would Mr. Skeeve, Ms. Miriam, Bosslady Raven, Ms. Violet, and well.. that's the short list of people who are alive, anyway."

Belldandy says, "Perhaps they may be able to convince her, then....I will continue to help as I may."

Gonfei glances back to Belldandy. "It's the actions I'm afraid she's going to do..." He sighs and shakes his head, looking back to Nova. "Well, the jist of it is, she's now thinking of apparently setting up Raven with an IV to make sure she's getting hydrated and is getting nutrients, because she's apparently not eating. As I'm assuming you already know, she doesn't trust doctors... so she's planning on apparently stealing the equipment and doing it herself. Which could kill Raven if she messes up, never mind the problems of stealing medical equipment from a hospital." He frowns. "Of course I've no way of contacting any of those people."

Belldandy says, "Um..well..there is this pleasant dragon here, yes? Perhaps...she could alert Ari's friends to her state of mind?"

Nova hops up onto the bar and starts pacing, hand to her chin. "Well yeah, definitely." She hmms. "Perhaps I can get them to get her to the hospital before Bosslady Ari does whatever she's planning."

Belldandy says, "I think..that is a wonderful plan."

Gonfei nods in agreement with Belldandy. "Sounds like a decent plan to me, too. You might want to... be there to explain when Ari shows up and Raven's not there." He then frowns. "Of course, that means Raven's gonna have to trust them as well... Does she? This will end a lot better if Raven goes on her own accord... which I'm guessing might be problematic." He sighs, shaking his head. "I almost wonder if I'm stepping outside the bounds of what a bartender should be doing to help people."

Belldandy says, "You're a bartender for a reason."

Nova nods as she listens. "Oh, Raven does. The twins and Aerial were born at hospitals after all. Raven's more.. accepting, which is weird because she was more messed up by her world."

Belldandy says, "Hopefully, she can be helped before she digs herself into a deep hole."

Gonfei sighs in relief. "Good, good... of course, if she's stubbornly not eating, she might just claim she doesn't need the help. Well, I'm gonna have to leave it in your hands, Nova." He glances at Belldandy with a raised eyebrow, trying to gauge what she meant by what she said to him.

Belldandy smiles to Gonfei. "You enjoy talking to people, and helping, and listening as well. It's no surprise you choose to work here.

Nova blinks and looks down at her hands. "But.. they're so tiny! I won't be able to carry her far!" she pouts. Gotta love dragons taking things literal.

Belldandy says, "Your hands may be small, but..you're spirit is very big. I'm sure you'll be able to help your friend." To Nova."

Gonfei smirks at Belldandy. "Well, when I'm in my more talkative phases of life, I suppose." He then slooooowly turns to look at Nova as it dawns on him that she's not joking. "Uhhh... I meant... you're in charge of making sure it happens now?"

Nova tilts her head a little, then her face turns a tiny bit purple as she blushes. "Oh! Right. An expression. I knew that!"

Belldandy smiles, sipping her tea. 'I'm sure with such a good friend, she'll be alright. Though...you may call on me if needed, Miss Nova.

Gonfei sighs and relaxes his shoulders somewhat. This has been bothering him more than he'd care to admit. He glances around the bar, making sure there's no other customers looking for food or drink there.

Nova nods. "I will, thank you! I should probably cancel date night, then." she pouts just a little.

Belldandy says, "You care very much, Mr. Gonfei. You have a good heart." she then looks to Nova, "Oh my, are you here to meet someone?"

Nova nods, grinning. "My mate, Quark! We usually stagger our nights off, but every once in a while they line up. Wanna know a secret?" she bounds over to Belldandy and leans in, whispering not really well, but she tries. "We're trying to have a brood!"

Gonfei winces as Nova mentions cancelling a date. "Sorry about that, Nova." He glances back at Belldandy with a raised eyebrow. "Not something I'm used to people saying about me, I gotta admit."

Belldandy says, "Oh...a brood! how wonderful! I wish you the best of luck!" she smiles, clapping her hands together, 'I wish you the best of luck with your family, and may you have the blessings of Yggdrasil!" she turns to Gonfei, "I'm very sorry...it's my nature to see beyond what is present."

Gonfei chuckles, shaking his head. "Like so many people, I go through phases in my life. I've been called heartless far more often than anyone saying I have a good heart." He doesn't comment on Nova's announcement of having a brood, though... as it was whispered, he's assuming he wasn't meant to hear it. He's still the bartender, after all.

Belldandy says, "I find that hard to believe Mr. Gonfei; the seriousness with which you try and help you're friend...even when she does not wish to be helped. It is very commendable."

Nova chimes in. "Or is just too stubborn to admit she needs help."

Belldandy says, "This is true. Sometimes the very strong cannot admit when they need help."

Gonfei frowns slightly again. He seems almost unsure of how to take the compliment.

Nova thinks a moment, then gets out a tiny sized PDA from her satchel, tapping away at it. "Aaaand, done! I just told Quark to tell the kids to call Bosslady Raven an ambulance. If we get her out of there now, then we can circumvent anything Bosslady Ari may be planning." she grins, flapping her tiny wings in triumph.

Belldandy claps her hands. "Well done, Miss Nova.

Gonfei blinks and nods. "Well, that probably is the simplest solution of it all. Good work."

Gonfei sighs and hangs his head. "Except now Ari might try to take her from the hospital."

Nova smiles toothily. "I do try." she reaches into her satchel again and takes out a Star Fleet communicator, promptly taking a bite out of it."

Belldandy says, "I'm not sure that is a snack, Miss Nova."

Gonfei gives Nova a blank look, though not for the same reason as Belldandy. "Uhhh... was there anything you wanted to order tonight, Nova?"

Nova grins to Belldandy. "I eat metal. They're snacks to me!" she chuckles, turning to Gonfei. "Oh! Right. Got any silver candlesticks covered in a gold reduction sauce?"

Belldandy says, "Oh..I see. Another dragon I know of is quite fond of precious gems."

Gonfei says, "Silver candlesticks... well, I can't make any promises, but we'll see..." He glances back to the kitchen, then walks over to talk to the kitchen staff. After a moment he returns. "We don't seem to have any 'gold reduction sauce.'"

Belldandy says, "Please allow me...." she smiles, her Goddess mark glows softly and two silver candlesticks ala gold reduction sauce appears on a tray. With garnish. "I hope this will be sufficient."

Nova grins. "Ooooh, they look great! Thank you!" She sits down by the tray and starts eating rather happily.

Belldandy says, "Consider it a gift for you soon to be brood."

Gonfei's eye twitches slightly, then he sighs, shaking his head without saying a word.

Belldandy says, "I'm sorry, Mr. Gonfei...was that inappropriate?"

Gonfei pauses for a moment before saying, "Well... This is a restaurant... We're supposed to be the ones supplying the food here... it's kind of how we make money."

Belldandy says, "Oh..I'm very sorry...I shall pay for her meal as if you had made it here."

Nova keeps eating rather happily. Apparently she was hungry.

Belldandy pulls out a handful of yen. "I hope this will enough. Please forgive my rudeness."

Gonfei says, "I, uh..." He sighs, shaking his head. "Nah, don't worry about it. She made a complicated problem simpler. I'm tired of having... issues today."

Belldandy says, "Then I shall make this a contribution to someone who will come in later, but cannot afford food."

Nova's PDA goes off, and she looks at it. "And she's in the hospital. And apparently we're not telling Bosslady."

Gonfei glances at the money, then shrugs and puts the money to the side. "That works." He raises an eyebrow at Nova. "That was fast. I'm now kinda wondering if they called before you texted."

Nova shrugs. "Maybe? Either way she's there and getting help. That's the important thing, right? Now we just gotta make sure Bosslady doesn't do something silly."

Belldandy says, "Yes, that is the important thing. I'm happy all is well."

Gonfei sighs and hangs his head again. "It is, but... good luck with that. I'm not really wanting to go hunting her."

Belldandy says, "You reluctance is..um..hunting her, is admirable. I pray it does not come to that as well."

Nova nods "Me too. 'Specially since she's good at hiding."

Gonfei offers a grin at Nova. "I'm good at finding people who don't want to be found. But I'm not in that business right now. I'm bartending." He holds out his hands, interlocking the fingers with his palms facing outward. "So, would either of you ladies like anything else?"

Belldandy claps her hands, 'No thank you...I really should get going," she bows, rising. then puts down some yen for her tea. 'Please have a good evening."

Nova ponders that. "How about a mug of molten tin?" She looks at Belldandy. "Nice meeting you! Thanks for everything again!" she smiles.

Belldandy says, "You are quite welcome."

Gonfei says, "Take care, ma'am. Please come again!"

Belldandy bows, "Goodnight, then..." she heads out the door.

Gonfei raises an eyebrow. "Molten tin..." He scratches his head. "That might be a challenge..." He then grins. "For someone else. Lemme see if we can find some tin, I know we have the ceramic mugs that can hold it." He heads off for a bit, and apparently between him and the waitstaff, they're able to fill a mug with tin. It's, of course, solid, or at least it is when it's put into the mug. As Gonfei carries it over, the insides start to glow, and by the time it arrives at the bar to be placed on an industrial strength coaster, it's clearly molten inside. "Here we are."

Nova oooooohs at it, and smiles. "Thank you! Smells delicious!" she says, sitting back on her hind legs and picking up the mug with both hands.

Gonfei nods. "Glad to hear it! Enjoy."

Nova takes a sip from the mug and sighs happily. "I hope Bosslady didn't make you too mad. She didn't mean it. She just has a temper."

Gonfei sighs, looking down. "It was... irritating. Watching someone wanting to do things not only the hard way, but the genuinely worse, more dangerous way. The way that can make things worse if they don't go perfectly right. And for what? A sense of paranoia for reasons that don't extend to here. In my own world, I needed to avoid doctors for a few centuries. I can't be cauterized, and if something went wrong you'd have a fiery explosion in the OR that couldn't be explained. Here? If I needed it, I'd just assume I could tell the doctors about what makes me not quite human and they'd just adjust without batting an eye."

Nova nods at that. "Probably. But.. well, Bosslady's been messed up a lot to trust easily, even out of her own world. The fear still remains."

Gonfei shrugs. "Well... Unfortunately, the only thing that I have going for me that makes me seem trustworthy is I'm a bartender. For some reason, people tend to trust bartenders. That trust apparently ran out when I called her out on that being a bad idea."

Nova hmms. "Well, to her it was a perfectly logical idea. Because that's what she would do every other time."

Gonfei frowns, and shakes his head. "It sucks not being able to trust. I've had those periods, myself, and I look back on those times with self pity."
